Our Values
We extend the invitation of Jesus by living out the values at the core of our church:
Tangible Care and Hospitality
We show the heart of Jesus through the care we lavish on others.
A Focus on All Generations
We teach, serve, and pour into all ages because faith is a lifelong journey.
A Spirit of Possibility
We harness the creativity God blesses us with and believe we can do great things through Him.
Awareness of The World
We look beyond ourselves to be change agents for our local and global community.
A Welcoming On-Ramp
We meet people wherever they are on their faith journey, providing a variety of avenues to encounter Jesus.
A Willingness to Live in the Tension
We engage in tough issues—acknowledging our differences but bringing grace to the dialogue.
Our Statement of Faith
As a community, we reaffirm one of the earliest full expressions of the Christian faith and emphasize our commitment to three additional doctrines:
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic (universal) church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
The Necessity and Means of Salvation
- We recognize that humanity is created in the image of God, but because of our sin, we are lost, in need of forgiveness, and subject to death.
- To rescue us from sin and reveal the fullness of His love to us, God sent His Son, Jesus; through His atoning death on the cross and physical resurrection, we are forgiven, reconciled with God, and receive eternal life.
- As those reconciled with God, the church is called to live under the lordship of Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sent into the world to embody the love of God in word and deed.
The Uniqueness of Christ
We believe God has spoken to people of the world, so that human beings know of God’s existence and His goodness (Hebrews 1:1-3, Romans 1:19-21). We affirm that salvation comes by God’s grace to sin-filled people, through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Acts 4:12, John 14:6).
The Authority of Scripture
In confusing times, it is imperative to define how we make difficult decisions. We affirm that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are inspired by God and authoritative to direct the behavior of God’s people in matters of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:2-4). We also affirm the primacy of the Scriptures over all other creeds, which exist to reflect the teaching and affirmations of the Scriptures in certain times and situations.
In everything we take a posture of humility and rely on God’s Spirit to guide us. Our commitment to the authority of God’s Word and the uniqueness of Jesus compel us not to pass judgment, but to preach and live the gospel in loving relationships, with urgency and respect for all. Like the Reformers we proclaim: in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, diversity; in all things, charity.

Our Denomination
Christ Presbyterian Church is affiliated with ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. ECO is a rapidly-growing Presbyterian denomination that exists to serve the local church and reclaim a sense of covenantal biblical community. The name ECO, however, is not an acronym. It reinforces this movement’s passion for strengthening the ecosystems of local churches. ECO believes that the Church is a living organism that needs life-giving resources to help it grow, thrive, and multiply, and is committed to cultivating a healthy, diverse, resource-rich ecosystem where pastors and congregations can flourish.
History
For more than 60 years, the community of Christ Presbyterian Church has met on the corner of 70th Street and Highway 100 in Edina. What began as a small group of dedicated, missional Jesus-followers has grown into a vibrant faith community with an intergenerational focus, serving a diversity of backgrounds. Since its inception, CPC has experienced long-tenured, stable leadership and has had only three senior pastors.
